Terms & Conditions

  1. The Reimagine Happiness Quiz – USA (the "Contest") is organised by Mediacorp Pte. Ltd. ("Mediacorp") and Singapore Airlines Limited ("SIA"), collectively referred to as the "Organisers".

  2. There are no entry fees charged for participation in the Contest. Participation shall only be open to Singapore Residents (as defined herein) aged 18 years and above at the date of entry into the Contest. Employees of the Organisers, their immediate families, affiliates, subsidiaries, related agencies associated with this Contest are not eligible to participate in the contest. 'Immediate family' refers to spouse, parent, natural or adopted child, siblings (whether natural or adopted by a parent), regardless of whether they live in the same household as the employee or contractor. In the event of any disputes regarding the eligibility of any participant, the Organisers shall have the sole and absolute discretion to determine the eligibility of a participant. Winner(s) may be required to sign a written statement confirming their eligibility before prize collection. The term "Singapore Residents" in this context shall mean:

    a. Singapore Citizens and

    b. Singapore Permanent Citizens

    who are physically in Singapore at the time of participation, declaration of results as well as at the time of departure of flights from Singapore.

  3. By participating in the Contest, participants signify that he/she has read, understood and agree to be bound by and to comply with the following terms and conditions ("Terms"). Failure to comply with, or a breach of any of the Terms may disqualify a participant at any stage of the Contest, and any prizes won may be forfeited, withheld, withdrawn or reclaimed. Each participant represents and warrants that all information provided for the Contest are true and correct. Any misrepresentation could result in disqualification of the participant’s entry and/or the forfeiture, withholding, withdrawal or reclaiming of any prizes won.

  4. Participants will be required to submit their entries online via the following link: https://www.channelnewsasia.com/siaquizUSA. The Contest will be conducted between [09:00] on 1 March 2019 to [23:59] on 4th April 2019 ("Contest Period"), and participants shall be permitted to submit up to one entry for each day of the Contest Period. Only one (1) winner shall be selected for each phase of this Contest.

  5. The winning entry for the Contest shall be selected at the sole discretion of the Organisers, and such selection shall be based on the quality of the participant’s answer to the given question.

  6. For this Contest, participants stand to win 80,000 KrisFlyer Miles (sufficient to redeem a ticket to any destination in Americas based on round-trip Economy Saver Award ticket rates for Singapore Airlines only).

  7. Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and non-cash prizes cannot be exchanged for cash. The selected winner must be a KrisFlyer member, or sign-up to be a KrisFlyer member in order to receive and use the prize. The Organisers reserve the right, at any time in their sole and absolute discretion, to substitute, withdraw, add to or alter any of the prizes offered without prior notice to the participants. The Organisers reserve the right to forfeit prizes or award prizes to another participant if a winner does not respond to the Organisers as specified in the winners’ notification message within 14 days from the date of notification. All prizes which are not won or remain unclaimed within two (2) months after the winners are notified may be forfeited.

  8. KrisFlyer Miles that are awarded can be redeemed in exchange for flights for Singapore Airlines and SilkAir flights only. Taxes and fees are applicable in addition to the required redemption mileage and must be separately paid by the winner wishing to redeem the Miles. The KrisFlyer Miles issued to the winner will only be valid for one (1) year from the date on which it is credited into the winner’s KrisFlyer member account, and no extensions will be permitted. The number of KrisFlyer Miles issued are not negotiable nor transferable, either in part or in full. Unless otherwise stated herein, the terms and conditions of the KrisFlyer programme shall apply to the KrisFlyer Miles awarded hereunder.

  9. The Organisers’ decisions at all stages of the Contest are final. Except for notification of the winner(s), the Organisers shall not be obliged to enter into any correspondence on any matter concerning the Contest. No enquiries or appeals, verbal or written, shall be entertained. The participants shall accept and abide by any and all decisions made by the Organisers concerning, without limitation, these Terms, the rules, procedures and regulations of the Contest, the award of prizes and any other matters relating to the Contest. The Organisers reserve the right to change or amend any of the Terms, and to suspend or cancel the Contest, without prior notice.

  10. By participating in this Contest, each participant agrees that his/her personal data may be disclosed by the Mediacorp Group to third parties for the purpose of facilitating the Contest. Each participant hereby acknowledges and agrees that the Organisers shall not be responsible or liable for any act or omission in relation to his/her personal data disclosed by the Mediacorp Group to third parties.   11. Each participant also agrees that his/her personal data may be collected, used, processed and disclosed by SIA for the purpose of facilitating the Contest, including communicating with the winners for the distribution of prizes. Any such collection, use, processing and disclosure by SIA of participants' personal data will be strictly in accordance with SIA's Privacy Policy, a copy of which may be obtained from any of the SIA's offices or from www.singaporeair.com. By participating in this contest, each participant signifies that he/she has read, understood and agrees to be bound by SIA’s conditions of use of website and SIA’s Privacy Policy.

  12. By participating in this Contest, participants agree to participate in any form of publicity relating to this Contest. Participants agree that the Organisers may use the names and images of the participants, including the photographs or audio-visual or other recordings of these participants ("Material"), for promotion of the Contest across all media, including without limitation in the Organisers’ properties, without further notification, remuneration or compensation; and the copyright and all other intellectual property rights in and to all Material shall vest solely and absolutely in the Organisers. The Organisers reserve the right to disqualify any winner(s) in the event that the winner(s) refuses or fails to participate in any publicity for the Contest.

  13. Participants shall not, without the prior written approval of the Organisers, speak to the press or any other media nor give any interviews or comments relating to the Contest.

  14. By participating in this Contest, each participant agrees that the Organisers, their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, and their respective officers, directors, and employees shall not be liable for any losses, damages, injuries, death, disappointment suffered by the winner or any other claims arising out of or in connection with participation in this Contest, and/or any prize awarded. Except to the extent that they may not be excluded by law, no representations, warranties, terms or conditions that are not expressly stated in these terms and conditions apply to the Contest nor in respect of the prizes and all implied warranties are excluded, including but not limited to, the implied warranties of satisfactory quality, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose of any of the prizes.

  15. By accepting the prize, each winner agrees to hold harmless, defend and indemnify the Organisers from and against any and all claims, demands, liability, damages or causes of action or losses, with respect to or arising out of or related to the prize.

  16. The Organisers shall not be responsible for any problems with the network, computer hardware or software or any breakdown or failure that results in the participant’s posts or any other information becoming incomplete, damaged or lost.

  17. The participant acknowledges that the interest and good reputation of the Organisers are of paramount importance. The Organisers reserve the right to disqualify a participant from the Contest, or to withdraw any prize if it believes the participant is in breach of any of its obligations under the Terms. The participant shall not by act or omission, directly or indirectly bring the Organisers into disrepute.

  18. Entry to the Contest is personal to each participant. No other person has the right under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act (Cap 53B) to enforce or enjoy the benefit of this contest through a participant’s entry.

  19. These Terms and the Contest shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Singapore. Any disputes in relation to the Terms or the Contest shall be referred to the courts of Singapore.

  20. The participant agrees that any cause of action arising out of or related to the Contest must commence within three (3) months after the cause of action accrues. Otherwise, such cause of action shall be permanently barred.
